9 Life-transforming Questions You Should Answer to Make 2022 Your Best Year

While I was thinking about what next to publish on this blog, I browsed through my note books for ideas, most of the topics I saw in my note didn’t seem timely for me. Then I picked a note I haven’t checked, flipped through the pages, there I saw some questions I wrote down some times ago. On seeing it, I shouted eureka (I have found it) just as Archimedes did.

9 Life-transforming Questions You Should Answer to Make 2022 Your Best Year

Now that the year is running to an end, it is certain that people would do so many dumb things. Some will start thinking of New Year resolutions which they would never follow through. Some would start regretting how they have squandered all the precious days of the year without any remarkable achievement. And some will go about setting too many goals that would get them overwhelmed as soon as they hit 2022. The truth is none of these things are bad, but when done emotionally and for wrong reasons, it would never yield any desired result.

9 Life-transforming Questions You Should Answer to Make 2022 Your Best Year

In few weeks’ time, we shall start another journey of 365 days. This year may not have happened has you wish it should be, you don’t need to kill yourself over the outcome. Suck up the lessons from your failures, and celebrate all your successes.

I wrote this post for every of my readers who think they are living far below their potential, and yarning hungrily for growth in their lives. I have prepared these questions to serve as a telescope to help you take a deep and critical look at your life, carry out the needed self-assessment, and help you come up with ideas that can help you make year 2022 your best year.

The questions are as follows:

1. Do you like how your life is today?

Everyone has an idea of how their life should be if they are able to overcome all the obstacles on their path, but is your life exactly how you want it to be? Are you satisfied with the current reality of your finances, business, relationship, career, academics, health, peace of mind, and spirituality?

If you are not okay with anything in your life, it means Change is calling you to do certain things differently.

“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning, and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” Whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, now I know I need to change something.”-Steve Jobs

2. Name 10 things you don’t like about your life

Here I mentioned 10, it is just an assumption, yours may be more than 10, or less. All that you need to do is to list those critical things you don’t like about your life. It may be your income, career, bad habits and so on. You are the one who knows yourself better, so make your list.

3. Describe for each of the 10 list, how you want your life to be

Having listed the 10 things you don’t like, write a definite and clear description of how you wish or desire your life to be in those areas. W. Clement stone said, “Definiteness of purpose is the starting point of all achievement.”

4. What 10 noticeable obstacles do you think are preventing you from becoming who you really want to be?

Also take a look at your life, and condition, make a list of those factors you think are preventing you from becoming who you truly want be. It may be financial problem, lack of mentorship, lack of certain skill, indecision, fear of failure, bad habits and so on. I only suggested those ones, you know yourself better.

Identify those things that are stopping you. Once you know what your obstacles are you can deal with them.

5. What are your top 10 limiting beliefs?

Experts said, “The average people don’t use more than 10% of their potentials.” The truth is you are smarter, talented and more powerful than you think.

Limiting beliefs are those personal assumptions that you have about yourself, and your resources that makes it difficult for you to maximize your full potentials. Most limiting beliefs are as a result of ignorance and only knowledge can cure such.

Your beliefs are powerful, and they will work whether they are true or false. If you think you are a dunce, no matter how naturally smart you are, you will always act like a dunce, and keep getting the result of a dunce. Henry ford said, "Think you can, think you can’t either way you are right."

If you are conscious enough to identify your limiting beliefs, make a list of them, make plan, and make effort to eliminate them. Tony Robbins asserts that “Many people are passionate but because of their limiting beliefs about who they are, and what they can do, they never take actions that could make their dream a reality.” One of the ways you can eliminate your limiting belief is through self-hypnosis, but the best way is to expose yourself to the truth you need to know about those limiting beliefs. “…And you shall know the truth,” said Jesus, "and the truth shall set you free.”

The truth can only be found true introspection, reflection, close observation, voracious studying and critical thinking. Go find the truth.

“It is not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life; it is what you whisper to yourself that has the most power.”-Anonymous

“If you accept a limiting belief, then it becomes a truth for you.”-Louise Hay

6. How hot is your desire for transformation?

the truth is, until you get to a point in your life, where you tell yourself, enough is enough for being rubbished by life, you may never experience any remarkable change in your life. The day you become disgusted about mediocrity that is the day your life we start changing for better. Let me ask you, how long will you keep suffering from this same mess? If you don’t know, these challenges of yours won’t leave until you do something about them. The decision might be painful, the process might be tedious, but it won’t be as worse as the pain of not doing anything about them. The choice is in your hands. You can decide to put an end to your challenges; you can also allow them to keep making a mess of your life. If I were you, though it would be painful, I would choose transformation.

Let your desire be so hot that nothing would stop you from doing all that you need to do to experience that kind of life you want.

“When your desires are strong enough, you will appear to possess superhuman powers to achieve.”-Napoleon Hill

7. What do you have?

It is easy to lie to yourself that you are helpless? It is easy to tell yourself that you will do “this and that” if you have “so so so and so.”

Forget those things you think you need and start considering what you have. Steve Harris, a popular Nigerian coach said, “it is not what you don’t have that is your problem, it is what you have but don’t know how to use.” Another intelligent coach, John Obidi asserts, “Use what you have, for what you have is enough.” If you agree with me and these guys, it means you already have what you need to begin your journey to creating the life you want.

When considering what you have, think about your skills, knowledge, your passion, the people you have in your life, your material possession. All of these are tools you can begin with.

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”-Arthur Ashe

8. How can you best use the things you have to create the life you want?

Answering this question might be a little difficult, but I am certain you have the answer within you. The easiest way to answer this question is to first decide what you want to do considering your resources, and then you can now arrive at the answer of how best you can use those things you have.

Sit down and think. Don’t rest until you have found answer(s).

9. What would you do today to start making a difference?

Having read all these questions, what would you do today to start making a difference in your life? “If wishes were horses” says an English language proverb “beggars would ride.” It is not enough to say you will do something. You must take action.

No amount of plans and intentions will move your life forward, unless you act on those plans and intentions. They can’t because they are static; it is only the force which action carries that can change your life. Your life won’t move an inch; you won’t experience any positive transformation unless you take action on your plans and intentions.

If you want to make 2022, your best year, decide exactly how you want your life to be, and be resolutely determined to put in the necessary efforts. You will see the changes you want.

There is No Such Thing as Overnight Success

It is important to point out here that success takes time. When people begin a project, the energy is always high, but as times goes on the passion would start to wane down. When you begin the process of transforming your life, the change you seek won’t appear overnight. You will likely not see the change as at when you expected. Your job is to keep working at your goal.

If you work only when you feel like working or when it is convenient, success will elude you. You must cultivate the discipline of doing what you need to do at any given time whether you feel like it or not.

Applying effort to effect positive change in your life is like cutting a tree. When a woodcutter set out to cut a tree, he starts by hitting his sharp axe against the mighty tree. The first cut would seem of no consequence, but that won’t stop him. He would keep hitting the tree with his axe until the tree tumbles with an effortless attempt. That is how your effort is. As you keep trying, as you keep making effort, a time comes when your life would begin to reflect that kind of change you seek.

Finally, I implore you to do something today about making 2022 your best year.
